Friends of Isles of Scilly Transport (FRIST) welcomes the Council of the Isles of Scilly clarifying its position on transport in its press statement of 11th January.  http://www.scilly.gov.uk/news/news.htm?mode=10HYPERLINK "http://www.scilly.gov.uk/news/news.htm?mode=10&pk_news=607"&HYPERLINK "http://www.scilly.gov.uk/news/news.htm?mode=10&pk_news=607"pk_news=607

As the stakeholder group representing community, businesses and transport service users, FRIST is interested to learn the Council’s views on the future of transport links with the mainland and looks forward to further discussion at a meeting arranged by the Council for 11th February.

It is hoped that, either at this meeting or in the near future, to meet jointly with  the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company and the Council in order to seek common long-term goals.  In the shorter term FRIST is supporting the proposed airport and harbour improvements including the proposed hard surface runway at Land’s End Airport.

Set up in July 2012, FRIST is campaigning for affordable and reliable year-round lifeline transport links between the Isles of Scilly and the mainland.
