The Council of the IOS is undertaking a formal review into Sunday flying. Currently there are no commercial flights into or out of St Mary’s Airport on a Sunday. The Parsons Brinkerhoff report on St Mary’s Airport concluded that the steady decline in Airport passenger numbers over recent years (which is undermining Airport finances and the Island tourism sector) was unlikely to be reversed without adopting Sunday flying. The divisions in the community over this issue are reflected in the comments on the Scilly Today new items on this issue (see link below).
