Scilly’s Passenger Numbers Are ‘Well Up’ This Summer



From Scilly Today 2 Jul. If you think Scilly seems busier than last year, the Steamship Company’s latest passenger figures would indicate that you’re right. 


Chief Executive Rob Goldsmith says the numbers of Skybus and Scillonian passengers are up significantly compared to 2014.

Rob says journeys on the combined air and sea routes have risen by 7.6% on June last year and 11% on the calendar year.

Comment:  Dick Cliffe, Penzance guest house owner and supporter of FRIST said:   there has been a noticeable upturn in visitors travelling to and from Scilly on the Scillonian – it has to be good news for Penzance and Scilly. It is also reassuring to see foreign visitors touring West Cornwall on foot or by bicycle now including a few days on Scilly in their itinerary. Some recent German guests were 'blown away' by the experience on Scilly commenting on their return to Penzance that the Isles of Scilly are largely unknown in Germany.
